Intertidal

Okay, because I constantly have to look them up.... places to explore the rocky intertidal in Oregon.

Now, this be said, there are a lot of beautiful places to visit on the coast, but these are my verified (or soon to be) locations.

Boiler Bay (2.5h)
Seal Rock (3h)

I am going to check out Haystack rock this weekend, it is supposed to be great and notably closer to PDX (1.5h)

Another good one closer to you: there is an awesome little beach just north of Oceanside toward Cape Meares. As you leave Oceanside on the 3 Capes Loop, you'll go over a hill. As you come down the other side, you get to a flat, straight spot with some trees along the beach side and room to park along both sides of the road. There is a trail that leads through a "tunnel" of trees, down stairs, and eventually to a beach, complete with a gushing waterfall and its own little haystack rock. There are good mussel beds and a giant tide pool to the left.

Thanks Matt! For my class this summer we managed to hit haystack rock at a great low tide... which was the closest option, I'm checking this place out too!
